I have a thing for old machines. I know I'm not the only one.

This beautiful old camera made in the DDR - Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic) in about 1983 oozes charm. Recorded here are its mechanical sounds. The loud shutter click, winding on a roll of film, opening the back, changing light sensitivity settings, changing the light meter battery, and the sound of the flash firing. There's also a lot of handling noise.

Some recordings are with binaural mics as taking a picture is intimate and right up close to the head. The flash charging is recorded with an electromagnetic mic to capture the whine of the high voltage generator loading the capacitor before firing. THere are standard stereo recordings too.

I hope you enjoy these sounds as much as I enjoy taking photos with this amazing camera.
